Landscape of Light, a cultural interrelationship between people and nature
The project represents a cultural landscape born of the interrelationship between people and nature, designed in an urban context that has evolved over the years while maintaining its essence: the desire to combine culture and nature in the heart of a city for the enjoyment of citizens, where geography and history, the individual and the universal come together, with clear signs of identity.
Around the Paseo del Prado, the first example of an urban boulevard since the 16th century, are located the major cultural, scientific, political, economic and representative institutions of Madrid and Spanish society. It is historically and geographically linked to the gardens of El Buen Retiro. Both, promenade and park, form an indissoluble whole whose origin dates back to the mid-sixteenth century, when for the first time a space was conceived so that all citizens, without social distinctions, could enjoy nature within the city limits.
